TAPP 2 faucet water filters
TAPP 2 Click uses Bluetooth to trigger a notification on your iOS or Android device. Register your filter in the MyTAPP app, then just press the TAPP 2 Click green button to trigger a notification on your device letting you know your current filter status, how long until a new refill cartridge is required and how many plastic water bottles you have avoided to date.
TAPP 2 Twist is manual. You can register the filter in the app if you like. But you can also just twist the calendar to set it to 3 months from today (or the day you replace the refill cartridge). The filter has a calendar on it, which reminds you of when you need to replace the cartridge
TAPP 2 refill cartridges are entirely made out of non-toxic materials which remain inert after decomposing. The cartridges contain a high percentage of biodegradable and compostable material and can be disposed of with organic waste. Please check with your local industrial composting plant. The device itself (without the refills) is made out of highly recyclable ABS polymers.
Our work at TAPP is transformational but simple, we create solutions that aim to help reduce plastic waste. Innovation is difficult and rarely perfect, but we continue to work on improving our products every day to reach our goal of providing top quality plastic-free alternatives – which allow others to join our mission. We created our biodegradable refill cartridge filters to support this purpose, and it wasn’t easy to reach a threshold of 76% total biodegradability. In fact, it was very difficult, and it represents a substantial advancement for filter cartridges – the most eco-friendly option in this category. We have also taken great care to ensure the remaining 24% of the filter cartridge is non-toxic, inert and will not harm the environment or marine life. We continue to innovate and are committed to creating a 100% biodegradable filter – as biodegradable is always better than relying on recycling. Better for the planet, better for our children and better for ourselves. We know we are on the right path by having created a better solution available right now compared to what existed before. Yes. Installing the filter on your faucet will take less than a minute and is thoroughly explained in the bilingual instructions included in the filter box.
Yes. TAPP filters are designed to fit on most standard faucets (Metric: M22x1 or US: 55/64’’-27). In general, you will have to remove the aerator (small device at the faucet tip) from your faucet before you can screw on the filter. In any case, TAPP 2 comes with two additional adapters (Metric: M20x1 and M24x1 or US: 13/16’’-27 and 15/16’’-27). In the unlikely case that the included adapters do not do the trick, please get in touch with us and we will be happy to help you out. Also, if your faucet does not have an aerator, please contact us for more information at [email protected]. For a more complete overview of which faucets work and a few that do not, check out our compatibility test.
– TAPP 2 uses the highest quality coconut shell-based carbon-block filter, used for maximum filtering of chemicals and improvement of taste. This was selected after testing over 40 different variants and building on from our original TAPP 1 filter.
– TAPP 2 delivers more clean filtered water for the money than any pitcher, on-the-counter reverse osmosis or faucet filter available on the market today.
– TAPP 2 is the only filter with biodegradable refill cartridges.
– Customer trust and safety is always our first priority. All product claims and information about TAPP filters are based on scientific facts and testing.
Please see our guide on TAPP vs bottled water, and how TAPP 2 differs from other water filters
The filter’s dimensions are 4.3″x 5″ x 2.8″ (11cm x 13cm x 7cm). It weighs around 0.8lbs (375g).
TAPP 2 Click
1.Download the app from the Apple Appstore or Google Play.
2.Register through the app if you haven’t already or sign in with your existing username and password.
3.Select Register new filter and chose TAPP 2 Click.
4.Step 1 and 2. Make sure you accept the opt-ins for notifications and location always on.
5.Once you’ve gone through the two steps click on the TAPP 2 button. A notification should pop up within 30 seconds.
Unfortunately, technology doesn’t always work. Here’s how you can troubleshoot if things go wrong:
1. Check that Bluetooth is turned on
2. Check that location is always on for the app
3. Check that the plastic protector for the battery is removed and that there is a battery in the device
4. Check that your smartphone is at least an iPhone 5 with iOS 10 or higher or an Android phone with Android 6 or higher. If these don’t help then remove the TAPP 2 filter from the app, sign out of the app, delete the app, restart your phone and install the app again. Go through the steps above again.
The only way to connect a device to iPhones and Android phones in the background is by using iBeacon or push notifications. As the TAPP 2 filter is not connected to the Internet the only way to get signals from it to a smartphone is using iBeacon. For some reason Apple has included this the iBeacon functionality as part of the location tracking in the operating system. Therefore the only way we can get notifications through is by enabling location always on. Apple also states that location data cannot be used by the app developer unless it’s stated what it is used for and how it is used. The MyTAPP app does not store or use location data at all and therefore the app is approved by Apple.
TAPP 2 Twist
TAPP 2 cartridges can last up to 3 months maximum. When starting to use a new cartridge, set the date on Twist to be: date = today + 3 months. Three months from now, when you reach that date, the visual cue will remind you to change refill.
TAPP 2 Cartridges
TAPP 2 refill cartridges are entirely made out of non-toxic materials which remain inert after decomposing. The cartridges contain a high percentage of biodegradable and compostable material and can be disposed of with organic waste. This organic waste ends up in an industrial composting plant where the cartridge breaks down within 1-2 months. Alternatively, it can be discarded with general waste, where it will break down within a couple of years in a landfill or be burned without causing any plastic residue. It will also take a couple of years to break down in a garden compost, so not recommended.
Note, that the device itself (without the refills) is made out of highly recyclable ABS polymers, and can be disposed of with plastic waste.
TAPP 2 filters are tested to effectively absorb chemicals of between 1200-1500 liters of water (depending on original water quality) or 2-3 months of water usage for an average household. We cannot ensure water is microbiologically safe after 3 months since the first use. Even if they are not used frequently as the filter will lose its adsorption capability over time if not replaced and thus no longer remove chemicals, bad taste and odor.
The lifetime of the filter cartridge depends on your water consumption as well as on the quality of the filtered tap water. In an average household of 3-4 people, the cartridge will last about three months. In order to ensure the longest possible lifespan of the cartridge, please avoid running hot (> 100ºF) or high-pressure water through the cartridge/filter part of the device. Also, it is important not to use the cartridge for more than 3 months as there is a risk of bacteria accumulating inside the carbon block.
Download the MyTAPP app available for Android website or our app (available for Android and iOS). If you haven’t registered, you’ll need to create an account. Add a new TAPP 2 Click filter, following the instructions (make sure your Bluetooth is turned on). Remove the plastic sleeve on the battery. Now all you need to do is click on the TAPP 2 Click green button on the lid, and your phone will trigger a notification.

Contaminants TAPP 2 remove
TAPP 2 reduces Chlorine by 95% or more based on 100s of tests carried out on tap water around the world. This improves the taste instantly for chlorinated water. In addition to this TAPP 2 removes all know bi-products from Chlorine (whereof some cancergenic such as THMs).
Yes, TAPP 2 reduces Chloramine by 95% or more based on more than 50 tests carried out on tap water in LA and other cities using chloramine rather than Chlorine. In addition to this Amonia was reduced by 90% or more.
Calcium is considered a mineral with health benefits and not a contaminant. Unfortunately calcium also has the unfortunate bi-effect of causing limescale in combination with magnesium carbonates. The standard TAPP 2 filter only marginally reduces calcium and can therefore not be considered effective in limescale removal. TAPP Water will however launch a separate cartridge for limescale removal by the summer of 2019. Sign up for our newsletter to find out more.
Yes, TAPP 2 removes all microplastics that have been found so far in tap water thanks to the 1-2 micron carbon block.
Yes, TAPP 2 reduces Nitrate by 90% or more based on independent lab tests.
Yes, TAPP 2 reduces Nitrate by 90% or more based on independent lab tests.
TAPP 2 reduces fluoride by 30-70% based on independent lab tests. Fluoride is a natural compound found most fresh water sources, tea, vegetables and fruit. It’s not considered a contaminant although we are aware that some people are concerned about the health effects. Many water filters claim fluoride removal but in reality we’ve found that reverse osmosis is the only effective way to reduce fluoride by 95% or more.
TAPP 2 is not certified for arsenic removal but in the tests where arsenic was detected before filtering more than 70% was removed. The maximum concentration level recommended by EPA and WHO is 10 mg/l. Therefore the results mean that for any tap water with 50 mg/l or higher concentration of arsenic alternative solutions should be considered.
Yes. Based on tests performed on the type of activated carbon block used in TAPP 2 pharmaceuticals are reduced by 95% or more. This includes: Hormones: prednisone, prednisolone, progesterone, testosterone and cortisol Antibiotics: ciprofloxacin, used to prevent certain infections caused by bacteria, as well as sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, which are used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections including pneumonia, and urinary tract and intestinal infections Antidepressants: fluoxetine, prescribed to treat a variety of conditions, including depression and other mental/mood disorders Anti-anxiety medication: meprobamate, a treatment used to relieve nervousness or tension that exceeds stress of everyday life Painkillers: ibuprofen and naproxen Additional tests will be performed during 2019 to confirm these results.
Yes, TAPP 2 is tested for lead reduction and removal in accordance with NSF 61. This means lead is reduced by 95% or more. Read more here: https://pre.tappwater.co/us/how-to-remove-lead-from-tap-water/
